My recent visit to Korea during November-December 2022

I was invited by the Ministry of Education, Republic of Korea to participate in GKS Alumni Invitation Program 2022 during 27 November-4 December 2022. GKS Alumni Reunion 2022, 22 November 2022

"GKS Alumni Reunion & AGM 2022" organized by the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Alumni Association's Sri Lanka Chapter, sponsored by the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka, was held on 22 November 2022 at the Jetwing Colombo Seven Hotel.

Hon. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, H.E. Santhush Woonjin JEONG graced the event as the Chief Guest while Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor, University of Kelaniya and Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo were the VIP Guests. In addition to that several Deans of Faculties, Librarians, and Professors were invited as Special Guests.

Students of the Korean Language Unit, University of Kelaniya as well as CPI Participants made the event colourful with their cultural performances.

I was awarded a "Letter of Appreciation" by the Hon. Ambassador in appreciation of my contribution to the development of GKS Alumni Association and the promotion of 'Study in Korea' in Sri Lanka, during my tenure as the President of GKS Alumni Association Sri Lanka Chapter.

කොරියානු රජයේ ශිෂ්‍යත්වලාභීන්ගේ ආදී විද්‍යාර්ථි සංගමයේ වාර්ෂික හමුව 2022 නොවැම්බර් 22 දින කොළඹදී පැවැත්වුණි. 2020-2022 කාලය අතරතුර මෙම ආදී විද්‍යාර්ථි සංගමයේ සභාපතිවරයා වශයෙන් ක්‍රියා කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තුළ කොරියානු අධ්‍යයන ප්‍රවර්ධනයට දැක්වූ දායකත්වය වෙනුවෙන් එහිදී මා කොරියානු තානාපතිතුමන් ගේ සුරතින් විශේෂ ඇගයීම් සම්මානයට පාත්‍ර වූයෙමි.

"Feel the real Korea: Virtual Tour 2022" Exhibition

"Feel the real Korea: Virtual Tour 2022" exhibition was launched at the Colombo City Center (CCC) by the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka on 10th November evening. I represented the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Alumni - Sri Lanka Chapter as its current President on invitation of the Korean Embassy. The exhibition will be held from 10-12 Nov. @ CCC.

Meeting with Korean Ambassador, 8 November 2022

Last week, I myself and Dr. Aruna Ranaweera (Immediate Past President of GKS Alumni), Dr. Dulshara Sachini Amarasekara (GKS Public Envoy) had a constructive discussion with Hon. Ambassador, H.E. Santhush Woonjin Jeong on future activities of GKS Alumni Sri Lanka Chapter as well on avenues in fostering education cooperation between two countries, at the Korean Embassy.

Korean Ambassador Visits University of Kelaniya, 29 July 2022

Today, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea visited our university and met the Vice-Chancellor and few other academic staff members. H.E. Ambassador Santhush Woonjin Jeong and Snr. Professor Nilanthi de Silva had a constructive discussion on areas of mutual interest including Korean language and education. උච්චාරණය (ඉංග්‍රීසි/ සිංහල): shijagi banida, සීජගි පන්ඉදා

ඉංග්‍රීසි අර්ථය: Starting is the half

සිංහල අර්ථය: යමක් ආරම්භ කිරීම යනු (එහි) අඩක් නිම කිරීමකි

ප්‍රස්තාව පිරුළේ අදහස: යමක් පටන් ගැනීම යනු ඉතාම අසීරු පියවර වශයෙන් බොහෝ විට සැලකේ. නමුත්, යමක් ආරම්භ කළහොත් එය පහසුවෙන් ඉදිරියට පවත්වාගෙන යා හැකිය. යම්කිසි කටයුත්තක් ආරම්භ කරන අයෙකු ධෛර්යමත් කිරීම සඳහා මෙම යෙදුම භාවිත කල හැකිය.

ඉංග්‍රීසි අර්ථය: Even monkeys may fall from trees

සිංහල අර්ථය: වඳුරා වුවද ගසෙන් වැටෙන්නට පුළුවන

ප්‍රස්තාව පිරුළේ අදහස: හොඳින් ගස් නැගීමට හැකි සත්ත්වයෙකු වශයෙන් ප්‍රකට වඳුරා වුවද ඇතැම් විටෙක ගසෙන් වැටෙන්නට පුළුවන. එපරිද්දෙන්, යම් කාර්යයක නිපුණත්වයක්/ විශේෂඥභාවයක් ඇති අයෙකුට වුවද ඇතැම් විටෙක අත්වැරදීම් සිදුවිය හැක.

මිථ්‍යා විශ්වාසය: 시험 날에는 미역국을 먹으면 안 된다

උච්චාරණය (ඉංග්‍රීසි/ සිංහල): siheom nareneun miyeokgugeul meogeumyeon an dwenda, ෂිහොම් නරෙනන් මියොක්ගුක්ල් මොගම්යොන් අන් ද්වෙන්දා.

ඉංග්‍රීසි අර්ථය: You shouldn’t eat Korean seaweed soup on a days of important exams.

සිංහල අර්ථය: තමන්ට ඉතා වැදගත් විභාගයක් ඇති දිනයක කොරියානු මුහුදු පැළෑටි සුප් අනුභව නොකළ යුතුය.

අර්ථය පැහැදිලි කිරීම: මුහුදු පැළෑටි සුප් යනු ලිස්සා යන සුළු ආහාරයක් බැවින් එවැනි ආහාරයක් වැදගත් විභාගයකට පෙර (විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ප්‍රවේශ විභාගය 수능시험 වැනි) අනුභව කිරීමෙන් විභාගය අසමත් විය හැකි බව විශ්වාස කෙරේ.

උච්චාරණය (ඉංග්‍රීසි/ සිංහල): se sal beoreut yeodeunggaji ganda, සේ සල් පොරුත් යෝතුන්කාජි කන්දා

ඉංග්‍රීසි අර්ථය: Old habits die hard

වචන අර්ථය: වයස අවුරුදු 03 දී පුරුදු වූ දේ වයස අවුරුදු 80 දක්වා පවතී.

ප්‍රස්තාව පිරුළේ අදහස: කල් ගත වූ පුරුදු අත්හැරීම ඉතා අපහසුය. හොඳ හෝ නරක පුරුදු සඳහා පොදුවේ භාවිත වන අතර විශේෂයෙන්ම හොඳ පුරුදු කුඩා කාලයේ සිටම පුරුදු පුහුණු කිරීම වැදගත් බවද හැඟවේ.

My Experiences in Korea during 2014-2019

2014-2019 අතර කාලයේ කොරියාවේ විදේශීය ශිෂ්‍යයෙකු වශයෙන් ගතකල මාගේ ජීවිතය නිරුපණය වන කෙටි වීඩියෝවකි.

කොරියානු භාෂා කථික තරඟය - 2009

2008 වසරේ කොරියාවේ ගතකල මාස 06ක කාලය තුළ විදේශිකයින් සඳහා වූ කොරියානු සම්ප්‍රදායික විවාහ උත්සවයක මනාලයා වශයෙන් මා ලද අත්දැකීම් ඇසුරින් කල ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට 2009 වසරේ මැයි මස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පැවති කොරියානු භාෂා කථික තරඟයේ රන් පදක්කම හිමි විය. එම තරඟය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කොරියානු තානාපති කාර්යාලය හා කොරියානු ජාත්‍යන්තර සහයෝගිතා ආයතනය (KOICA) ඒකාබද්ධව සංවිධානය කරන ලදී.
