"කොරියානු රළ" හුදෙක් කොරියානු සංස්කෘතිය පමණක් නොව කොරියානු භාෂාව ද ලොව පුරා ප්‍රචලිත කිරීමට ප්‍රබල දායකත්වයක් ලබා දී ඇතැයි කොරියානු සංස්කෘතික අමාත්යංශය උපුටා දක්වමින් The Korea Herald පුවත්පත මෑතක දී පැවසීය.
ඒ අනුව 2007 දී 13 ක් වූ King Sejong මධ්‍යස්ථාන 2012 වන විට 90 ක් දක්වා වර්ධනය වී ඇත. තවද, එම කාලය තුළ එම ආයතනයන්හි කොරියානු භාෂාව හදාරන සිසුන්ගේ සංඛයාව 740 සිට 16,590 දක්වා වැඩි වී ඇත.
කොරියානු රජයේ වාර්තාවන්ට අනුව 1997 වසරේ විභාගය ආරම්භ වූ දා සිට 2013 වසර වන විට කොරියානු භාෂා ප්‍රවීණතා විභාගය (TOPIK) ට අයදුම් කළ අයදුම්කරුවන් ගණන මිලියනය ඉක්මවා ඇත. තවද, ලොව පුරා විශ්වවිද්‍යාල 840 ක පමණ 'කොරියානු අධ්‍යයන' හෝ 'කොරියානු භාෂා' අධ්‍යයන අංශ පිහිටුවා ඇත.

The Korean Wave (한류) , or the rapid growth in the popularity of Korean (South) Culture ,especially through TV Dramas, Pop-music & music videos has made a great impact on popularizing Korean culture all around the World during last two decades.
Not only it popularizes the Korean culture, it has made a great impact on increasing the interest on Korean language among foreigners. Highlighting The Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, 'The Korea Herald' Newspaper recently revealed that the demand for studying Korean language has dramatically increased in many countries during last six (06) years.
Accordingly, the number of King Sejong Institutes from 13 in year 2007 (in 03 countries) to 90 (in 44 countries) by year 2012. Also the number of students have increased from 740 to 16,500 during the stipulated time period.
According to government sources, the number of applicants for TOPIK exam has exceeded one million by year 2013 (Link: TOPIK Reaches a Record High in Number of Applicants).
According to the newspaper, about 840 foreign universities have Korean Studies or Korean Language related academic departments.
